Derby Records A full time U.S. Coast Guard Federally Licensed Captain and Guide, Capt. Mike Pastore has close to 30 years experience and has spent thousands of hours on Lake Ontario and the New York State Finger Lakes. Through the years, his efforts have produced a track record that very few Captains could hope to achieve. He has appeared in numerous national and regional publications, such as Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and New York Sportsman, just to name a few. He also has a long list of accomplishments to his credit.

  • To date there have been 85 documented Derby and Tournament prize winning fish taken aboard THE RODMASTER, including 3 First Place division winning fish in the L.O.C. (Lake Ontario Counties) Trout and Salmon Derby. 45 of these winners have been in the last 8 seasons alone!

             “I personally invite you to fish Lake Ontario aboard the RODMASTER.  I grew up fishing Lake Ontario, since the inception of the trout and salmon program, and I’ve guided thousands of successful fishing trips on Lake Ontario and on the NYS Finger Lakes as well. This has given me a tremendous amount of diversity, which has contributed to my success.   I’ve spent countless hours refining tactics, techniques and equipment, and have learned how to deal with all the factors that contribute to catching trophy fish consistently – day in, day out.  Fishing is not what I chose as an occupation - I don’t view this as my ‘job’ – it is what I was born to do! You will quickly see why 110% effort is the RODMASTER trademark.  I truly enjoy the challenge!
